Look in Mirror First!

Before complaining about something, one should first ask: “Do I have a part in this issue?” Choosing a comfortable life while avoiding the effort and rewards of hard work can lead a person to complain about the very problems around them. This contradiction is becoming more common in our world—those responsible for solving problems are often the ones complaining about them.

Instead of complaining, one should ask: “What have I done to help solve this issue? What small contribution can I make?” Self-reflection and self-criticism are essential. Only after this process does a person gain the right to complain, express grievances, and make constructive criticism. Change starts with the individual, and the transformation of individuals leads to the transformation of society.

For example, if I were a street cleaner, before complaining that “residents are too messy,” I should first question whether I am fulfilling my duties properly. Only after assessing my own role can I start addressing the external factors beyond my control. This way, a logical cause-and-effect relationship can be established, and problems can be solved in a more concrete and practical manner. If everyone first fulfills their own responsibilities, many problems would resolve themselves.

Complaining is easy. However, a person who does not take responsibility cannot create solutions by merely blaming others. The same principle applies to work life, family relationships, and even social interactions. We must first recognize our own mistakes and work on our shortcomings.

Let’s not forget: Change begins with the individual. And the transformation of individuals leads to the transformation of society. If we truly want a better world, we must first look in the mirror and start with ourselves.
