New Generation Leader

I have a saying I really like: "Leadership is action, not a position!" In essence, it says, "Leadership is not a position but an action." Nowadays, there is a perception that being appointed to leadership positions is equivalent to being assigned to a position. In my opinion, this diminishes the importance of leadership because leadership is not just a managerial position. It is a much more ambitious role based on qualities such as knowledge, experience, intelligence, intuition, ethics, timing, teamwork, and communication.

A determined leader is someone who loves their job, is trustworthy, innovative, has good judgment, thinks strategically, and can guide and motivate others. The leadership need of the new generation today also includes qualities such as process management, system philosophy, goals, performance, and ethics, in addition to these. Therefore, besides being an administrative position, one must also have the quality of leadership.

The difference between a Manager and a Leader has always been a subject of debate. In the modern era, new generation leaders must be both a good manager and a good leader. The world is experiencing difficulties precisely because this need is not fully met.

The autocratic and democratic balance is a general rule that needs to be carefully used depending on the situation. However, human factors, psychology, common sense, process management, system approach, merit, trust, organizational culture, etc., make things difficult and complex. In this regard, leaders must also be System Leaders. As new generation leaders who can be inclusive, visionary, proactive, and provide sustainability (seeing the broader framework where everything is interconnected) increase, the pace of change in the world will accelerate.

In this period of ideological evolution, I believe that change will come from within the system with the contributions of the new generation leaders. It is a natural process that will further open the way for academia stuck in these theories and sectors adapted to the current system. For this, we should ensure the encouragement of new generation leaders with a more conscious approach. However, we must not forget that no one is perfect, and control cannot be 100% in our hands. Continuous improvement is always necessary!
